$2.65 Million Medical Malpractice Verdict against ophthalmologist who caused blind eye treating a chalazion

Brian Hurst and Thomas Boleky, obtained a $2.65 Million medical malpractice verdict in the Circuit Court of Cook County against a local ophthalmologist who treated a chalazion (small pimple-like bump) on his patient’s left lower eyelid by injecting the chalazion with a corticosteroid. It was alleged the corticosteroid was negligently injected into the patient’s central retinal artery causing complete and permanent loss of vision in the patient’s left eye as a result of ischemia.
