Biography

Thomas F. Boleky concentrates his practice in representing individuals who have suffered serious personal injuries as a result of the negligence of others, as well as families in matters involving the wrongful death of a loved one. Mr. Boleky has over 25 years of experience handling cases arising from automobile collisions and general transportation accidents, construction negligence, premises liability, Animal Control Act litigation, product liability, and medical malpractice. Mr. Boleky, who originally hails from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, joined Brian Hurst to become a named partner in 2009 after a long career as a civil litigator with the law firm of Corboy & Demetrio, P.C., in Chicago.

Mr. Boleky provides determined, energetic and creative representation of his clients in all of the personal injury and other wrongful death matters he handles. He has tried many cases to verdict and has obtained recording-setting awards and numerous multi-million dollar settlements. In one record-setting case, a Kane County jury in 2005 returned the second highest personal injury verdict in the county’s history when it found for Mr. Boleky’s clients in the amount of $4,543,930.00. In that matter, the plaintiffs, back seat passengers in a car driven by a family friend, were injured when the car they were in was hit by a pizza delivery vehicle. In another case, Tom secured a $2.5 million settlement during the third day of trial for a woman who was seriously injured on a municipal bicycle path when the pedal of the bike she was riding hit a steel post that had been placed in the middle of the path and she was flung forward onto to her head. Mr. Boleky also obtained a $3.25 million settlement for his client against People’s Gas Light & Coke Company who survived a natural gas explosion at his residence in Chicago but suffered third-degree burns on his face, neck, arms, and upper body. Over the span of his legal career, Mr. Boleky has secured over $60 Million in verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients.

A committed member of the legal community, Mr. Boleky belongs to numerous legal organizations, including the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. Mr. Boleky has served on the Chicago Bar Association’s Judicial Evaluation Committee from 2000 to 2013, and has held positions on the Executive Committee including Chair of Investigations Division, Chair of Hearings Division and Chair of the entire Committee in 2012—2013. He also served as co-chair of the Chicago Bar Association’s Appellate Review Committee in 2011-2012. In addition he was elected to the Chicago Bar Association’s Board of Governors in 2014 for a two year term. Mr. Boleky has served as a member of the Civil Litigation Advisory Committee for the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education, as well as a moderator and judge for the DePaul College of Law Moot Court Society. Mr. Boleky has an AV rating – the highest level awarded for professional excellence – by the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. Mr. Boleky is also recognized as a “Top Illinois Lawyer” by SuperLawyers.com. Mr. Boleky is a frequent lecturer and moderator for civic, community and legal organizations.  He also serves as Vice Chair on the Board of Directors, on the Executive Committee, and as Chair of the Governance Committee of the Les Turner ALS Foundation.
